South Board and Batten Siding Finished!!!

After Rotten Siding Repair

After Rotten Siding Repair

I finished cutting and screwing on the PVC batts, and I caulked every single place where two boards meet.  I believe I have now protected this side of my house from future water damage.

I bought a Graco Spraytech 1720 paint sprayer and split the cost with a friend.  We both needed to paint our houses and had looked into renting one and trying to do both houses in the same day.  My house was only ready to have this 1 side painted, but his whole house is needing it.  We found a good deal on a floor model and now I can keep it for next year when I do the next side of the house.

Since I’m only painting one side of the house, we had the existing paint color-matched. With the fancy sprayer, we painted the whole side of the house in a couple of hours.  It took just as much time to set-up and clean up as it did to actually paint.

I also wanted to show a picture of the window I replaced.  I bought an Anderson 100 series window.  I sprung extra for the grille pattern in between the panes, low-E glass (it’s on the south side), and the obscured glass so you can’t see into the bathroom.

I still need to install the trim on the interior of this window, but that will make for a good wintertime project.
